

Born in April, in Kolkata, Sreemoyee Bhattacharya showed inclination towards Poetry and Performance at a tender age. She performed as a lead in various theatre shows in Kolkata. She took part in various Bengali poetry recitation sessions by All India Radio. For her Bengali book of Poetry,' Life in a metro', she received the prestigious Bangla Academy Award and Rammohan Smriti Puroshkar. She was also nominated for Sahitya Academy (Yuva) Award.
Sreemoyee studied Engineering at Jadavpur University and after completing, joined TCS. She was posted in Norwich, England for three years, when with a desire to tell stories and step into world cinema, she completed a Director’s diploma from Raindance Film School, London.
After finishing her Diploma, Sreemoyee directed her first short Film, 'Shadows' with a British and European cast and crew, The film got many accolades at Cannes Short Film Corner. Shadows was later shown in San Jose International Short Film Festival and Bangalore International Short Film Festival. The film won the Critic choice Best Film and Best Director award in Cinemela, Kolkata.
While working in TCS, Sreemoyee directed her second short film, 'Veil', that got selected in Raindance Film Festival, received the Best Screenplay Award in Bangalore Miniboxoffice International Short Film Festival, screened in International Documentary and Short film festival, Kerala. It got awarded at Bangalore International Short Film Festival and got specially screened in Chicago South Asian Film Festival too. It got the HBO Best Short Film Award, Audience Choice in New York South Asian Film Festival. The film got a certificate of excellence from Dada Saheb Phalke film festival as well. Sreemoyee got the Best Emerging Woman Filmmaker award in Kolkata International Short Film Festival and a special Jury mention award in Indian Cine Film Festival.
Sreemoyee then made her third short film 'All Characters Are Fictitious'. Just shortly after that, she quit her job in TCS and moved into Mumbai. She, along with #Abhikism started an alternative space for Music, Poetry and Performance named as 'Transmic Space' and produced audio visual contents of vivid genres.
Sreemoyee started working on her first feature film as a Writer, Director and Producer. Meanwhile, she worked with Little Lamb Films and directed ad films for Hindustan Unilever and Breakthrough India. She then independently worked as a director for brand campaigns including Parle G, Good Knight, Fortune and others. She is one of the ten directors for 'Fuel For India' by Meta. Her CSR film for Hindustan Unilever India received Best Film award in Woodpecker's Film Festival. Her film for Red Label received three Blue Elephants at Kyoorious Awards.
Sreemoyee's first multi lingual feature length film, 'One Secret Red' is in post production now. The film is produced by Cutting Coffee Films in association with Transmic Space. It has been selected as a Recommended Film in Goa Filmbazaar India.
Sreemoyee's second Bengali book, 'Odhora Madhuri' got published during the International Book Fair, kolkata, in Jan, 2023. The book has already received critical acclamations.
In August, 2023, Sreemoyee joined Drishyam Films International as the Head of Content and Filming and she is now leading the team from Dubai.
